The Hit List App Reviews

Fast and easy

The Hit List is the app that is the most adapted to my way of thinking about tasks and projects. It doesnt make me follow a very specific mental model so I can have my way of doing things. Ive tried so many task managers... THL is my favorite.

Still the best

Really missing external keyboard shortcuts

iPad Version finally !!!!!

Still the best GTD & personal Task-Management App on iOS & OSX!

The Hit List… Its back!

I had a beta of the Mac version many years ago and then it went nowhere. iOS came along and I’ve been making do, now with the iPhone version and the Mac version I have all that I need. I have said goodbye to OmniFocus and a myriad of others. My app of choice to stay focused and productive and manage the books I am writing is The Hit List, I would give it five stars if I could change the order of my project folders on there iPhone app. I can change them on the Mac and then sync, and it works that way. I would also like to be able to adjust the default fonts and sizes on the Mac and iPhone app. Great app, the best productivity app I’ve used.

Beware! This app has a critical flaw

This is a well designed app but has absolutely no ability to recover deleted items. Because of this you have to be extremely careful when using the app for any important data. I recommend that you dont do this unless you have a copy elsewhere The company Karelia urgently needs to add an option where deleted items are moved to a "trash" type folder. Its very disappointing that this otherwise almost perfect app has such a critical flaw that greatly reduces its usefulness.

The iPad Version is a Great New Addition

The Hit List for iPad Review Now with a new iPad version, The Hit List for iPad is a great addition to the THL family of apps. the app has maybe the best balance of simplicity, clean design, and smooth sync. The iPad version is very sparse in terms of colours or decorations, but organizes tasks and projects in a way that’s familiar and reflects the desktop app well. For $14.99 as a universal app, THL is also one of the more approachable solutions.

Great

Fantastically useful app that Just Works.

Best To-Do App

Ive been years using this app and comparing it with serious competitors such as Things, Wunderlist, 2DO, Todoist, Omnifocus, etc... The flexibility, the simplicity, and the powerful features of The Hit List are just unbeatable.

So far soooo good!

Hit list has always been about the Mac app and you just learned to deal with the iPhone app. With this update, the iPhone app leapfrogs its desktop brother. Very intuitive, with swipes giving you access to most needed functions. Great instant editing makes this so much more useable than the previous version. I can’t wait to see what Karelia does with the desktop version and iPad. Based on this update, it will be worth the wait.

Perfect for my uses

I have had the Mac version for quite some time and love the ease of use. I just needed a simple task manager with the ability of grouping tasks into projects and The Hit List works great for me. I have been waiting for an iOS version so I could take my tasks with me. I only wish this was a universal app designed to work on the iPad as well.

The best is BACK — and better than EVER!

Overjoyed to see this on the App Store; I was beginning to think this day would never come, but a Christmas miracle has occurred! AND, the awesome, proprietary Sync Service is now FREE?!? Hallelujah! The only thing that I can think to suggest would be to add a landscape orientation for the 6 Plus. That, and — of course — a universal version that runs a customized version on iPads, too.

Incredibly well done

I love Hit List for Mac, and though I have tried so many other products I keep coming back to it. It fits my way of thinking. I am so excited to see the first release of the new owners be a product as amazing as Hit List 2 for iOS. Its visually stunning, fast, and super intuitive. I dont need tons of new features, this update shows Hit List is heading in the right direction. Great job and keep it up!

It gets better and better!

The first version was already a great app side by side with the desktop, but I often found myself leaving advanced tasks like cleaning up the inbox or setting repeats for desktop. Now its just as easy to do on mobile! It also feels faster and streamlined.

This one clicks with me

I’ve tried most of them. Things is beautiful but so irritating in how you create repeating tasks. Omniweb is okay, I really hate the layout of it. Most of the Google Tasks apps are decent but limited. The Hit List for some reason really clicks with me, I love the card layout and the general layout of the app. I just bought the desktop version and setup a javascript bookmark to bookmark sites from Safari into The Hit List. I really enjoy using this app.

Fresh take on task management

This updated version companion to THL for Mac is amazing. Syncing is solid, interface is snappy and intuitive, and altogether brings new life to the aging but still great Mac app.

Looks Good but Still Years Behind

Purchased mostly due to THL nostalgia. It is little more than an updated user interface. No new features or functions. I have been waiting years for THL to catch up... It is still significantly behind the standard for a todo app in 2015. Missing: widget, reminders, file attachment, location aware, smart folders/lists. The developer says this lays foundation for improvements, they need to come a lot quicker.

Needs more

It’s a start, now the UI is better suited to the latest version of iOS. As a long-time user of THL on the Mac, I was willing to pay the extra $$ to get a better-looking version of THL on my iPhone and iPod Touch. But I do hope that this will turn into a universal version, so I won’t have to pay yet again for a version that runs on my iPad. If so, that’s probably when I’d drop using the app on all platforms! One bug (?) — the app only runs in portrait mode and does not recognize switching the iPhone or iPod Touch to landscape mode; the older version does/did, Waiting (and hoping) for more — functionality, device support, etc. — not more $$!

Brilliant Refresh to a longtime GTD Favorite.

I tip my hat to Karelia. They pulled off what I was starting to think was the impossible: to reimagine The Hit List, a longtime task management system sorely in need of some tlc. The new UI is clean and fresh and colorful. Less complicated than OF and even prettier and better organized than Things. The UI just makes sense and its mostly due to the awesome card system. The card views are unique and a pleasure to use, with buttery smooth animations. What also separates THL from most of its competitors are the nested folders, projects, and tasks. OF has it but THL is easier to manage and easier on the eyes. Tags view is brilliant. So much easier than other apps. The handling of repeated tasks is a relief compared to other major players. One thing I love about it is if you dont get to a repeating task, when it carries over to the next day its separated out into its own "still working on" category so it doesnt get lost among the other tasks. Another great feature is the ability to slide a task to the left or right to postpone or move to another folder. So easy. The completion sound is fun too. It’s the little things y’know? Sync is now free! Syncs well with the classic legendary Mac version. Everything you need to get stuff done is here but there are missing features like a Today widget and Share sheet extension which I read are coming soon. I also would like the ability to manually reorder the Today list which I think is coming too. Then theres the iPad version, also on the horizon, now more likely due to the iPhone redesign. I also look forward to the ability to attach files. Bottom line: this app has had a long journey and is now in the hands of developers who have the resources and man power(including Andy) and desire to bring THL,an app they clearly love,to its potential. This app is only going to gain in features and value this year so its totally worth the money. I look forward to opening this app which is important. If its not a joy to use then its gonna be harder to get things done.

Beautiful and flexible

Have tried all - Omnifocus, Things, Wunderlist, 2Do etc but this the one that suits me really well as a freelancer. All the features I need and with a really delightful UI/UX that is a joy to use. Highly recommended

Outstanding

Perfect for how I like to set up my tasks. Would like to be able to set notifications, but can live with out. Keep it simple, I for one know to check list for Wally mart and dont need to be notified when I am there.
